The Life of St. Francis by Bonaventure

Francis was a son of privilege. His parents were merchants & it was assumed that Francis would take over the family business & assets. In fact, he was sent to college for this very purpose. However, the Lord had different plans for him. Through the stirring of God, he felt strongly impressed to abandon everything in the service of God. His parents were horrified. His father took him to the Bishop in order to… Continue Reading…

The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence

In this age hyperactivity, how can one possible hope to remain in the presence of God? A man living over 300 years ago offers his timeless advice. Brother Lawrence died in 1691 at the age of 80. Having devoted the last 40 years of his life to loving & knowing God better, Brother Lawrence went on to fully experience what he so sincerely longed for-the presence of God. The Spirit of the Disciplines: How God Changes Lives by Dallas Willard

I highly recommend The Spirit of the Disciplines by Dallas Willard to every Christian who is serious about seeing their relationship with God grow. It’s not an “easy” read but well worth the effort. Andrew Nicolette’s Senior Recital

Jill, Margaux, Andrew & Me

Congratulations to my brother (spiritually speaking), Andrew Nicolette. Andrew’s senior recital was this Friday, March 27th at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West VA.

I must admit, I was pretty much blown away. For instance, He wrote a symphony (basically music for 30+ musicians) called “The Passion” that had 4 movements–Gethsemane, The Arrest & Torture, March to Golgotha & the Resurrection. The 2nd movement, The Arrest & Torture ended with the orchestra punctuating the 39 lashes Jesus endured for us. All I can say is…wow! I just sat there unable to move for a few minutes. Obviously, this event has great significance for Christians.

Andrew, great job. You’ve worked hard. I looked forward to seeing how you leverage your gift for the glory of Christ & his bride. We love you!
