2008 Family & Ministry Highlights
Family Highlights:
1. I completed another class towards my Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary. This involved an insightful & challenging week interacting with Dr. Eddie Gibbs, reading 15 books & writing a 40 page paper on growing our church in a post-Christendom context. By the way, I got an A- on the paper.
2. Kate, our oldest daughter, started Kindergarten. In our school, Kindergarten is a full day program. Jill is the one who’s taking it the hardest.
3. Jill totaled the “Maroon Bullet,” my 1995 Buick Riviera. It was practically in mint condition & no payments! She was totally fine, thank God, & I’ve been driving the church’s “camp truck” since September. Charlie loves it!
4. Jill, Oakley & I, Mom & Dad, Josh & Crystal went to Catedral de Fe in Lima, Peru to speak at their annual Pastor’s Conference. We also had the privilege of dedicating another building our church helped them purchase.
5. Jill & I did two 40 day fasts. For Lent (40 days before Easter), I gave up coffee, movies & TV. Then we fasted 40 days before the election (Sept 25 – Nov 3) from basically the same thing-coffee, movies, TV, alcohol, my favorite foods-fries, hamburgers, chicken fingers, etc. To be honest, this last fast was pretty difficult…I didn’t realize how addicted I was to the worthless activity of TV watching!
