I signed up for a class at Fuller Theological Seminary called Spirituality & Ministry mainly because it was taught by a man I admired from a distance through his books, Dallas Willard. After 2 weeks, I can honestly say I have even more respect not only for the profound intellect that he has but also for the man he is. Dallas is the real deal. He is not someone who simply knows a lot of facts & information & who despite he’s age of 72 has a razor sharp mind. He is also & I believe more importantly someone who walks closely with the Lord. Jesus is his close friend & you can tell. And that’s fundamentally what Dallas was trying to impart to us-the 24 ministers that gathered around him. A lifelong transforming friendship with Jesus is not only the best thing in the world to experience, it is also freely offered to everyone! Wow! Jesus does really heal me now! He makes me a better person now! He saves my life now! Primarily, Jesus is NOT just a future ticket into heaven. Jesus is access to heaven right now! And to those who really know Jesus, God’s power, presence, joy & love show up in our everyday lives.
